The Glass House Mountains don’t always give you drama. Some mornings they give you something quieter – a soft atmospheric haze sitting in the valleys between the peaks, the volcanic profiles emerging from it gradually as the morning warms, the whole scene muted and layered and completely different to the sharp golden light that makes Glass House Gold what it is.

At 4:1, the atmospheric depth of the image really works – the haze develops gradually across the full width of the frame, the peaks fading in and out of the soft morning air, the foreground farmland sharp while the background mountains dissolve into the atmosphere behind them.

It’s a different mood to every other Glass House Mountains print in my collection. Quieter. More contemplative. The mountain landscape at its most subtle rather than its most dramatic – which, for some spaces and some collectors, is exactly the right thing.
