First Bay at Coolum is the southernmost of the three small coves that run north from Coolum Beach toward Point Arkwright. It’s a sheltered bay with a rocky bottom and, on the right morning, some of the most dramatic sunrise photography on the Sunshine Coast. Fire was the sky on one of those mornings: deep red and orange above the horizon, the colour so saturated it seemed too strong to be real. The rocks and water in the foreground caught every shade of it.
