Mount Coolum rises directly from the coastal strip near Coolum Beach, and the creek systems that drain its steep southern face run hard after heavy rain. The Flood was made in the aftermath of a significant rain event – the water running over every surface of the lower slopes, the cascade that forms in high flow spreading across the full width of the rock face rather than running in a single channel. In black and white, the white water against the dark basalt is as stark as it gets.
