The Pinnacle is a rock formation at Coolum that stands in the surf on the north side of the beach – a narrow, tall rock that catches the first light of sunrise directly, the surrounding ocean breaking against its base. Pinnacle Rising was made at that moment: the rock catching the warm orange of the sun, the surf breaking white against it, the sky behind it transitioning from the dark blue of pre-dawn to the orange of the sunrise above the horizon.
